The Susquehanna County Historical Society’s Antique Appraisal Night

Thursday, May 2nd, 7-9 PM

Parish House at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Richard Axtell, who has been the Historical Society’s appraiser for over 20 years, will again impress the crowd with his knowledge of “everything old—-with some exceptions.” It promises to be a fun night with opportunities to increase your knowledge of everything old—-with some exceptions.



Tickets are $10 per item and those not participating will be able to purchase a spectator’s seat for $5. Tickets are available at the main desk of the Montrose library and in the Historical Society.

Angela Shelton

Angela Shelton

Angela Shelton is an acclaimed filmmaker, author, actor and public speaker. She has spoken in Congress, universities, military bases, high schools, elementary schools, community centers, conferences and seminars worldwide. Her multi-award winning film Searching for Angela Shelton put a spotlight on sexual abuse and domestic violence and began a grassroots movement of healing for abuse survivors worldwide.  The US Justice Department presented Angela with a certificate of appreciation for her hard work on behalf of crime victims.

The mayor of Asheville, NC made April 29th Angela Shelton Day in honor of all abuse survivors. Angela has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live, 48 Hours Investigates, NPR, Lifetime Television for Women and the cover of the New York Times. Her memoir, Finding Angela Shelton, is mandatory reading in many Women’s Studies programs.  Angela became a Superhero for children and won an Emmy for her performance as Safe Side Superchcik in The Safe Side video series created by Baby Einstein’s creator, Julie Clark.

The Butternut Gallery

The Butternut Gallery & Second Story Books will be closed for its long winter’s nap starting December 31.

The gallery will re-open in the late winter and bring you another year of the wonderful, the surprising and the unique in regional art, fine hand work, carefully selected used books and CDs.
